First Baby, Toddler Shop Opens in Bishop Arts District

Award-Winning Dallas Boutique Expands For 2nd Time

DALLAS — A noticeable gap in the booming Bishop Arts District retail scene was filled recently when top Dallas fashion boutique DLM opened the doors of its latest expansion, DLM Tots, at 413 W. Eighth Street. The store is the first of its kind within Bishop Arts, exclusively selling clothing, toys and gifts for babies, toddlers, and new mothers. DLM Tots is an ideal addition to the Bishop Arts Districts’ charming small businesses, as Oak Cliff is known as one of the most family-friendly neighborhoods in Dallas.

The boutique is the second expansion of DLM, which founder Deavon Moore opened at 837 W. Davis Street in 2017 as a menswear shop after her successful career as a national menswear buyer for Nordstrom. In 2019, Moore expanded DLM into the adjacent retail space at 835 W. Davis Street and added women’s clothing, children’s clothing, and gifts to its offerings.

“It’s been so exciting to see our neighborhood change, with lots of young families moving in and many of our long-term customers’ children growing up,” said Moore. “My hope is that, by opening DLM Tots, we’ll be able to better serve two of our favorite communities: babies and toddlers in the new, expanded space, and pre-teens within DLM in the area that previously housed our baby section.”

DLM has garnered the attention of local and national press alike, being named one of the “10 Best Boutiques Worth Checking Out in Dallas” by USA Today, one of “The Most Beautiful Independent Boutiques” by Paper City, and one of D Magazine’s “Best of Big D” in 2017, 2018, and 2021.

The shop is one of the tenants in the latest renovation project of commercial real estate development firm GoodSpace. “Beginning 10 years ago, Good Space has run the experiment of growing Bishop Arts into the ring of 100-year-old cottages that surround the district’s commercial core. With DLM Tots opening in one of four ‘shoplets’ in these two duplexes, that experiment has born fruit. My hope is that Eighth will soon be known as three blocks of food and merchandise presented like no other place in North Texas,” said David Spence, GoodSpace founder, who first approached Moore about the concept in 2020.

The public is invited to celebrate the opening of DLM Tots on May 13 for its grand opening party. The store will be open from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., with special celebrations from 12 – 4 p.m. with a DJ, activities like face painting, and free gifts for children like balloon art and flower crowns.
